Alice and Dave Prior are redefining retirement. After recuperating from the corporate grind, they both got restless and dabbled in more creative ventures. Besides being grandparents and caretakers for aging parents, they have operated their own consulting business since 2018. While Dave will stay fully engaged in consulting, Alice’s focus is now on the coffee shop. 

Alice’s vision is to see the coffee shop become the local meeting place for the community. Common Grounds Coffee will host local artists to display and sell their creations, local bakers to showcase their tasty delights, provide meeting space for local businesses, homeschoolers, authors, book clubs, crafting groups, and Bible studies. Regulars will be rewarded through a customer loyalty program. Special promotions will keep you trying new drinks or pastries. Ruther Glen and Ladysmith will become a happening place where “everybody knows your name”.
